Yo ready to go.

Tuesday proved to be a very good one for Yovanni Gallardo and the Brewers. The team may have lost a spring training game with a totally B lineup, but they won big by getting Yovanni working off the mound against "live" batters. Gallardo threw 10 minutes of batting practice yesterday and is now set to pitch in a minor league spring training game as early as friday.

This news couldn't come at a better time as it appears a few our pitching "locks" are having awful springs. Jeff Suppan has an era of over 11 at this time and Gagne and Turnbow are having tough times making outs. I'm not saying Yo will replace any of these guys, but some good news on the pitching front at least helps to temper some of that.

With the spring emergence of Manny Parra and Gallardo's quick recovery the Brewers have plenty to be hopeful for this season.

I have never paid more attention to a Spring Training for the Brewers than this year. And it's driving me nuts!

Sheets, Suppan, Gagne, Turnbow, Capuano and Bush are all pitching terribly!! They all claim they're working on new pitches and location. That's fine. But...we now have less than 2 weeks until Opening Day. It's time to hunker down and pitch like it's a real game, and aim to win every game by trying to dominate hitters.

Speaking of hitters, Rickie Weeks would be sent back to the Minors after his Spring if he was a rookie. Out of ALL the players training in Arizona for the Crew, Rickie is having the worst go of it. He leads the team in fielding errors and has struck out in half of his at-bats. He is the one player I'm most worried about. He also has missed the last few games by injuring his hand sliding into 2nd base. We better keep a decent back-up for 2nd base to cover Rickie's erratic play.
