Tony Gwynn Jr. has been placed on the 15 day disabled list, but they were able to make that move retroactive 6 days so TG only has 9 days left on the DL. The Brewers called up Hernan Iribarren to replace Gwynn. Iriabarren is an above .300 left handed bat with speed. He has just recently moved to the outfield, and can also play second base.

The crew also recalled Yovanni Gallardo from his rehab stint, but he is not yet on the active roster. The Brewers still have to decide who gets demoted to make room for him. Look for either Dave Bush or McClung to be moved. Neither pitcher did anything in last night's debacle to help their cause.

Why did they place Gwynn on the DL for 9 days?

Just to try out Hernan for a few?

Gwynn has been hurt with his hammy for about 6 days, and the team must think he needs a few more to heal. By DLing him they give Iribarren an audition for the future while not wasting a spot on the bench to a dude who can't run.
